UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTIFIER (USI)

The Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a personal education number used across Australia’s vocational education and training (VET) system. It links all your training records and results into a single, secure online account, making it easy to access your qualifications whenever you need them.

Having a USI is mandatory for anyone enrolling in nationally recognised training. Without one, your training provider cannot issue your certificate or statement of attainment.

WHY THE USI IS IMPORTANT

  • Keeps all your training records in one place — no more losing paper certificates.
  • Makes enrolment easier across different training organisations.
  • Ensures access to your verified qualifications throughout your career.
  • Helps create a trusted, Australia‑wide record of your skills and training.
  •

Whether you’re starting a new course, upskilling, or changing careers, your USI is an essential part of your learning journey.

Keeping Your USI Details Up to Date

To make sure your training records stay accurate and easy to access, it’s important to keep your USI account details up to date. Updated personal information — such as your name, contact details, or identification — ensures your records match your enrolments and prevents delays when retrieving certificates or completing new training.

Taking a moment to review your details now can save you time throughout your learning journey.

VET Transcript

A VET transcript is an official, government‑verified record of all your nationally recognised training completed since 2015, linked to your Unique Student Identifier (USI). It brings your qualifications and units of competency together in one secure place and can be used to prove your skills, apply for credit transfer, or replace lost documents. You can easily view, download, or share your VET transcript through your USI Student Portal, including creating secure, time‑limited links for employers or training providers.

Make sure your transcript is accurate and up to date; if any training is missing, contact the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) where you completed the course and request they report your results.
